　　On August 26, 2010, the Party Committee of Beijing Institute of Technology decided on the motto of the university on the basis of extensive consultation with teachers, students, staff and alumni。This is "virtue by virtue of understanding and science by virtue of refinement."。Virtue with understanding means that the moral is high and the exploration of objective truth is taken as one's duty.Learning by seiko means rigorous learning and realizing the ideal of benefiting mankind by mastering profound learning。This school motto is not only the true portrayal of the generations of teachers and students of our school in the past 70 years, but also the direction of the joint efforts of teachers and students of the whole school in the new historical period。
